So now that I'm on my journey to stay natural, I'm very interested in remedies to help speed along my hair growth process. Considering there will be quite a few trims in my near future I need my hair to grow FASTER so I can maintain a decent length, cause let me tell ya... ya girl is not the type to sport a pixie cut. And unless you're a Halle Berry lookalike, I suggest you check out some of these tips I've known to work.
Factors in hair growth:
-Poor diet
-Stress
-Heat/ Chemical damage
-Breakage due to constant tight ponys, braids, or buns
and vigorous brushing
HEALTHY BODY = HEALTHY HAIR
Hair is made up of lots of proteins, so while good protein masks and treatments that you put on your hair promote growth, you'll also do good by making sure you put protein rich foods into your body. Chicken, eggs, beans, yogurt, salmon, or any type of fish are full of good protein for the health of your hair. On top of that, start yourself on a balanced vitamin plan.
Zinc: Spinach, sunflower seeds, mushrooms, whole grains, red meat and brewer's yeast
Inositol: Whole grains, brewer's yeast, liver and citrus fruits
Vitamin E: Cold-pressed vegetable oils, wheat germ oil, soybeans, raw seeds and nuts, dried beans, and leafy green vegetables
Calcium: Dairy, tofu, fish, nuts, brewer's yeast, beans, lentils and sesame seeds.
Stress results in excessive hair loss, so good sleep patterns and regular exercise helps release stress to stop breakage.
Brittany's Tips & Tricks :
-Stop washing your hair everyday! It's really only necessary once every 3 days depending on the oil production of your hair. Although make sure you're conditioning once a day and deep conditioning once a week
-NEVER sleep with your hair all out, buy a satin night cap to wrap your hair in over night. Sleeping on a cotton pillow case can cause breakage from the friction of your tossing and turning in your sleep
-Massage your scalp daily, it produces blood circulation in the scalp. Get your man to do it ! Tell him if he wants your sexy long hair back, he needs to play his part too!
-Trim your hair every 4-6 weeks (stop thinking you can avoid it, it has to happen!)
-STAY AWAY FROM THE HEAT AND CHEMICALS
